Special Focus - Praying for our Nation - 2 Chronicles 7:1-3, 12-20 - June 30, 2024

Special Focus – Praying for our Nation – 2 Chronicles 7:1-3, 12-20 – June 30, 2024

GOD blesses those who humbly look to HIM.

Have you ever been searching for a solution to a situation and ready to give up when all of a sudden you are prompted to pray? You pause and pray and to your surprise the solution comes to you. Some things require the wisdom of GOD.

Many people are sensing something major is about to take place in the world and especially America. When we get concerned, that is a prompt for us to pray to our One True GOD, I AM/YAHEW through faith in JESUS, GOD’S only SON. We also pray and thank our LORD when good things take place in our country, family, business, church, etc.

In our study this week, King Solomon had asked GOD, as recorded in 1 Kings 3: Lord my God, you have now made your servant king in my father David’s place. Yet I am just a youth with no experience in leadership.[c] Your servant is among your people you have chosen, a people too many to be numbered or counted. So give your servant a receptive heart to judge your people and to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of yours?”

10 Now it pleased the Lord that Solomon had requested this. 11 So God said to him, “Because you have requested this and did not ask for long life[d] or riches for yourself, or the death[e] of your enemies, but you asked discernment for yourself to administer justice, 12 I will therefore do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has never been anyone like you before and never will be again. 13 In addition, I will give you what you did not ask for: both riches and honor, so that no king will be your equal during your entire life. 14 If you walk in my ways and keep my statutes and commands just as your father David did, I will give you a long life.”

15 Then Solomon woke up and realized it had been a dream. He went to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord’s covenant, and offered burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then he held a feast for all his servants. (GOD still speaks to HIS chosen in dreams, as well as in HIS still small voice and through HIS Word, The Bible.)

The heart of the leader of our nation toward GOD, through faith in JESUS is vital.

King Solomon, King David’s son asked GOD for wisdom to rule HIS people. That pleased GOD and GOD granted King Solomon more in order to rule HIS chosen.

Let’s explore! King Solomon was dedicating the new temple to GOD. It was a magnificent structure built to honor the one true GOD of the universe.

Something to ponder. Since the physical temple no longer exists, where does GOD reside? HE still resides in a temple. (The answer is on page 6.) Let’s explore!!!

Let’s read 2 Chronicles 7:1-3:

The Dedication Ceremonies

When Solomon finished praying, fire descended from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests were not able to enter the Lord’s temple because the glory of the Lord filled the temple of the LordAll the Israelites were watching when the fire descended, and the glory of the Lord came on the temple. They bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground. They worshiped and praised the Lord:

For he is good,
for his faithful love endures forever.

This took place when the Israelites were under the law. This was before JESUS became GOD’S perfect acceptable sacrifice to pay for sin, in full.

GOD revealed HIS power to the people through a very visible demonstration as revealed in our scripture:

When Solomon (King Solomon) finished praying, fire descended from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests were not able to enter the Lord’s temple because the glory of the Lord filled the temple of the Lord. All the Israelites were watching when the fire descended, and the glory of the Lord came on the temple. They bowed down on the pavement with their faces to the ground. They worshiped and praised the Lord:

For he is good,
for his faithful love endures forever.

King Solomon prayed, and GOD demonstrated HIS power to the people.

Fire cleanses and purifies. Do you recall the refiners’ fire used to refine gold? The person watching the goldsmith refining the gold as he kept turning up the heat and kept skimming off the dross. The onlooker got impatient and asked the goldsmith, “How do you know when the gold is ready?” The gold smith replied, “When I have the heat as hot as it can get and look over into the pot of gold and see my reflection, it is then that I know it’s ready.”

When Spirit-born Christians are filled with the Glory of GOD, there is no room for anything else and JESUS is reflected. Impossible for humans to achieve in their own strength but all things are possible with GOD through faith in JESUS.

The secret for any leader of a Nation or country is for its leader to be a Spirit-born believer in JESUS The CHRIST and for that person to make HIM the LORD of his/her life. When a person/leader thinks he/she is God, there will be trouble for that person/nation/country.

Let’s read 2 Chronicles 7:12-16:

The Lord’s Response

12 Then the Lord appeared to Solomon at night and said to him:

I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple of sacrifice. 13 If I shut the sky so there is no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to consume the land, or if I send pestilence on my people, 14 and my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. 15 My eyes will now be open and my ears attentive to prayer from this place. 16 And I have now chosen and consecrated this temple so that my name may be there forever; my eyes and my heart will be there at all times.

GOD was telling King Solomon, when trouble comes to the land you are ruling, let your first response be to come to ME for guidance and help.

This was before the passion of JESUS, as such sacrifices were still needed since they were living before JESUS gave HIS sinless life to pay for sin in full. When any person seeks forgiveness for his/her sin and asks GOD, in the name of JESUS, to forgive him/her GOD forgives that person and cleanses that person of all sin. That person is spirit born into the eternal family of GOD.

The passion of JESUS paid for all sin, in full, by the shedding of HIS sinless blood. Why blood? We read in Hebrews 9:22 - According to the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

JESUS gave HIS sinless life, no one took HIS life from HIM!

JESUS fulfilled the Law and as such all who place their faith in JESUS are no longer under the Law but under GOD’S Grace when they place their faith in JESUS. They are also given the Holy Spirit as a guarantee that they are GOD’S Son or Daughter. How do we know that? It is written in 2 Corinthians 1:22

It is He who has also put His seal on us [that is, He has appropriated us and certified us as His] and has given us the [HolySpirit in our hearts as a pledge [like a security deposit to guarantee the fulfillment of His promise of eternal life].

2 Corinthians 5:5

Now HE who has made us and prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the [HolySpirit as a pledge [a guaranteea down payment on the fulfillment of His promise].

Let’s read 2 Chronicles 7:17-20:

17 As for you, if you walk before me as your father David walked, doing everything I have commanded you, and if you keep my statutes and ordinances, 18 I will establish your royal throne, as I promised your father David: You will never fail to have a man ruling in Israel.

19 However, if you turn away and abandon my statutes and my commands that I have set before you and if you go and serve other gods and bow in worship to them, 20 then I will uproot Israel from the soil that I gave them, and this temple that I have sanctified for my name I will banish from my presence; I will make it an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples. 21 As for this temple, which was exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will say, “Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple?” 22 Then they will say, “Because they abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors who brought them out of the land of Egypt. They clung to other gods, bowed in worship to them, and served them. Because of this, he brought all this ruin on them.”

America is opening up itself to all religions, including paganism.

What are we to do?

Where does truth reside? Where is the temple since the Passion of JESUS?

Consider - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (Amplified Version)

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is within you, whom you have [received as a gift] from God, and that you are not your own [property]? You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

We who have been Spirit-born/born-again house the Holy Spirit. Salvation through faith in JESUS renders each Spirit-born person a priest.

1 Peter 2:9 (Amplified Version)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a consecrated nation, a [special] people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies [the wonderful deeds and virtues and perfections] of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Every Spirit-born Christian is the new temple that is not built with the hands of men but built by faith in JESUS and equipped by the indwelling Holy Spirit. All authority has been given to Spirit-born people as reflected in Philippians 4:13 13 I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] (Amplified)

When GOD calls, HE also equips. Our part is to trust and go, when GOD calls. The first step of faith is the hardest until GOD builds our trust in HIM, through our faith in JESUS. The words of the old hymn, “Trust and Obey” comes to mind. As we approach the second coming of JESUS, we must trust and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit to tell others about salvation through faith in JESUS.

Consider this. How did we begin this lesson? Fire came down and cleansed the temple, such that even the Priest could not enter. A good fire cleanses and provides visibility and warmth in a dark world.

When GOD sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, how did GOD manifest HIS arrival? As tongues of Fire. (Acts 2)

GOD cleansed the human temple for all who place their faith and trust in JESUS, to be the temple for the Holy Spirit to reside. Spirit born people are the light for those in the darkness of Evil.

Spirit-born people are to spread the good news of salvation and forgiveness of all sin through their faith in JESUS, WHO became sin in their place. When JESUS gave HIS sinless life upon the cross, all who place their faith in HIM also died with HIM, were buried with HIM and GOD raised them from the dead when HE raised JESUS. NOW THAT IS SOMETHING TO SHOUT ABOUT! HALLELUJAH!!!

Blessings!!!

Bible Study (4) - Count On (4) - GOD'S Promise to Make a Holy Nation - Exodus 19:1-8 - June 23, 2024 Excellent

Bible Study (4) – Count On (4) – GOD’S Promise to Make a Holy Nation – June 23, 2024

GOD’S promise to set apart HIS people was conditioned on obedience.

Focus scripture Exodus 19:1-8.

GOD chose the Israelites through whom the second Adam would come. Who is the second Adam? JESUS!

What did JESUS being born of a virgin, coming in the flesh, to be tempted as humans are tempted, yet without sin, giving HIS sinless life by the shedding of HIS blood, do for all who place their faith in JESUS?

JESUS became the perfect, acceptable sacrifice to GOD, to pay for a person’s sin, in full. Salvation comes from one source, faith in JESUS. What does that do for all people who accept JESUS as their Savior?

We read in Galatians 3:28:
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

GOD does not play favorites!!! HE does reward faithfulness and obedience.

Plus, those who accept JESUS as their Savior are Spiritually born into GOD’S Eternal Family, never to be Spiritually unborn. However, there are rewards for using your Spirituals Gift(s) and obedience.

GOD gives each person the gift of the Holy Spirit, WHO is a Spirit-born person’s guarantee of eternal life. Plus, Spiritual Gifts are also given to be used as the Spirit-born person serves, as directed and led by the Holy Spirit.

In the words of Dr. Blackaby, when you see GOD at work that is your invitation to join HIM.

Last week’s lesson revealed that GOD chose the Israelites through whom the Savior of the world would come. GOD gave them the Law, as a place holder, until the law would be fulfilled by the Passion of JESUS, through faith and redemption by the shed blood of JESUS.

When a person accepts JESUS as his or her Savior, GOD gives that person assurance of salvation by the gift of the Holy Spirit and at least one or more gifts manifested by the Holy Spirit, as the Apostle Paul gives in 1 Corinthians 12: Diversity of Spiritual Gifts

12:1: Now concerning spiritual gifts:[a] brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware. You know that when you were pagans, you used to be enticed and led astray by mute idols. Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

Now there are different gifts, but the same SpiritThere are different ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are different activities, but the same God works all of them in each person. A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good: to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit, to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit10 to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues,[b] to another, interpretation of tongues11 One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.

Pay special attention to verse 11. GOD gives to whom HE chooses. A Spirit-born Christian can desire a certain Spiritual Gift, but GOD is the giver according to HIS WILL AND PURPOSE.

Unity Yet Diversity in the Body – Dr. Blackaby uses a graphic design showing a person walking down a railroad track and ahead of the person is the clear sky, when the person’s ears pick up a sound like a train was coming but the eyes so no train was coming because as far as the person could see if was all clear ahead, the feet felt a vibration and again warned the body that something was coming but the eyes told the body that all ahead was clear. Then the person’s feet felt vibration and reported to the eyes that a train was coming but the eyes said it was all clear up ahead. The train was coming from behind. That is why the entire body must be watching for the good of all. Unity in the body is the key. Pay attention and respond to what the Holy Spirit is revealing to you! Speak up!

12 For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink. 14 Indeed, the body is not one part but many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I’m not a hand, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I’m not an eye, I don’t belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted. 19 And if they were all the same part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” Or again, the head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable. 23 And those parts of the body that we consider less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unrespectable parts are treated with greater respect, 24 which our respectable parts do not need. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater to the less honorable, 25 so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other26 So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, leading, various kinds of tongues.[d] 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But desire the greater gifts. And I will show you an even better way.

So, there are gifts (plural) of the Holy Spirit and then there is the fruit (Singular) of the Holy Spirit as the Apostle Paul gives in Galatians 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.[g] 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Spirit-born Christians must not consider themselves better than Christians who GOD is still maturing. Those who are striving in their own strength, to walk with JESUS and obey HIS commands. That is Satan’s lie. If you are afraid to commit your life to CHRIST, then confess it and ask JESUS to help you overcome that fear or concern.

Know that you have an enemy, Satan/Devil, who does not want you to obediently follow JESUS. Remember 1 John 4:You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you (JESUS) is greater than the one who is in the world (Satan).

GOD was revealing Himself to the Israelites as they journeyed from Egypt to the Promised Land. Often, it takes time to build trust in the leadership of GOD. When we stump our toes, as we walk and journey with GOD, confess it/them and ask GOD to forgive you and to help you to get it right.

GOD was building trust in the Israelites as HE delivered them from Egypt under HIS leadership through Moses. GOD spoke directly to Moses and that is GOD’S desire for all who place their faith in HIM. GOD desires an intimate, one on one relationship with each of those who place their faith in JESUS. That was and is GOD’S desire and redemptive plan through JESUS. When any person places his/her faith in JESUS a miracle takes place. In the twinkling of the eye, when any person places his/her faith in JESUS, he/she is Spiritually born into GOD’S eternal Family.

Let’s read Exodus 19:1-4:

Israel at Sinai

19 In the third month from the very day the Israelites left the land of Egypt, they came to the Sinai Wilderness. They traveled from Rephidim, came to the Sinai Wilderness, and camped in the wilderness. Israel camped there in front of the mountain.

Why the third month? In the Jewish culture, the number three is the number for completion.

Moses went up the mountain to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain: “This is what you must say to the house of Jacob and explain to the Israelites: You have seen what I did to the Egyptians and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.

GOD told Moses to remind the Israelites of where they had been, what they had witnessed while they were waiting for Pharoah to let them go. After Pharoah let them go, they witnessed the parting of the Red Sea and the defeat of the Egyptians. GOD’S visible presence was with them via the cloud by day and pillow of fire by night which led them to the specific place where GOD desired to reveal Himself to the Israelites, Mount Sanai.

Moses was the mediator between GOD and the Israelites as we read on. GOD spoke to Moses and, in, turn Moses spoke to the people.

Let’s read Exodus 19:5-6: (GOD Speaks)

Now if you will carefully listen to me (GOD) and keep my covenant, you will be my own possession out of all the peoples, although the whole earth is mine, and you will be my kingdom of priests and my holy nation.’ These are the words that you are to say to the Israelites.”

GOD chose Abraham through whom HE would make an eternal covenant and through whom JESUS, the promised Messiah, would come.

GOD desired a personal relationship with those who desired to build the right relationship with HIM. But the Israelites said NO! Why? It was because of fear. So, GOD spoke to them through Moses, Prophets and Priests until JESUS fulfilled the law and broke the sin barrier between GOD and those who desire a personal relationship with HIM through faith in JESUS.

The Israelites became GOD’S representatives to the known world then and to the world today.

JESUS is the Savior of all who place their faith in HIM by asking HIM to forgive them and for HIM to come into their hearts.

Do you recall what JESUS told Nicodemus in John 3?

John 3: Jesus and Nicodemus

There was a man from the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to him at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God, for no one could perform these signs you do unless God were with him.”

Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again,[a] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

“How can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”

Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born of water (physically as a human) and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. Whatever is born of the flesh is flesh, and whatever is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I told you that you must be born again. The wind blows where it pleases, and you hear its sound, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. So, it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

“How can these things be?” asked Nicodemus.

10 “Are you a teacher[b] of Israel and don’t know these things?” Jesus replied. 11 “Truly I tell you, we speak what we know and we testify to what we have seen, but you do not accept our testimony. 12 If I have told you about earthly things and you don’t believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except the one who descended from heaven —the Son of Man.[c]

14 “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness (symbol of healing), so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him may[d] have eternal life. 16 For God loved the world in this way:[e] He gave[f] his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God. 19 This is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who does evil hates the light and avoids it,[g] so that his deeds may not be exposed. 21 But anyone who lives by[h] the truth comes to the light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.”

Let’s read Exodus 19:7-8:

After Moses came back (from meeting with GOD), he summoned the elders of the people and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him. Then all the people responded together, “We will do all that the Lord has spoken.” So, Moses brought the people’s words back to the Lord. However, in Exodus 20:18-19 we read:

Let’s read Exodus 20: 18 All the people witnessed[a] the thunder and lightning, the sound of the ram’s horn, and the mountain surrounded by smoke. When the people saw it[b] they trembled and stood at a distance. 19 “You speak to us, and we will listen,” they said to Moses, “but don’t let God speak to us, or we will die.”

20 Moses responded to the people, “Don’t be afraid, for God has come to test you, so that you will fear him and will not[c] sin.” 21 And the people remained standing at a distance as Moses approached the total darkness where God was.

Fear can prevent us from having and being in right relationship with GOD, through faith in JESUS. GOD may ask me to ------ and we fill in the blanks. Guess where fear comes from? The adversary of GOD and JESUS, Satan, and his minions.

GOD desires an intimate one on one relationship with HIS Children, those who place their faith in JESUS.

Hebrew 9:24-28:

24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with hands (only a model[f] of the true one) but into heaven itself, so that he might now appear in the presence of God for us. 25 He did not do this to offer himself many times, as the high priest enters the sanctuary yearly with the blood of another. 26 Otherwise, he would have had to suffer many times since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared one time, at the end of the ages, for the removal of sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment— 28 so also Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but[g] to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Magnificent – The Best is yet to come for those who place their trust and faith in JESUS.

Blessings!!!

Bible Study - Count On (3) - GOD'S Promise of Blessing - Genesis 12, 15, 17, 21 - June 16,2024 - Excellent

 Bible Study – Count On (3) – GOD’S Promise of Blessing – Genesis 12, 15, and 17 + Genesis 21 - Special – June 16, 2024 - Recommended Read

Our focus scripture is Genesis 12:1-3; 15:5-7 and 17:7-11. (I added Genesis 21, which, I think adds a better understanding and foundation.)

GOD promised to bless all people through HIS chosen people.

Who are GOD’S chosen people? The descendants of Abraham and all who place their faith in JESUS are GOD’S chosen.

How can this be? Through the miracle of being “born-again” in our human spirit through faith in JESUS.

A person’s Spiritual Birth through faith in JESUS results in that person being eternally born into GOD’S Eternal Family.

Our study this week focuses on Abram, who later GOD called Abraham, Father of Many. GOD made a covenant with Abraham which was eternal through Abraham’s ancestral line through which JESUS, GOD’S only divine Son would be born 100% human and 100% GOD to fulfill GOD’S redemptive purpose.

How much faith did Abraham have in GOD? We will discover in Gensis 22 printed at the end of this lesson along with an excellent study written by Kelly Frances, The Plain Word.

Why so much on this part of Biblical history? Because it is foundational to why JESUS, through Abraham’s ancestral line, as chosen by the One True GOD for all people. (Each Person Has to make a choice)

This is long study but I believe you will find it worth the time to read/study it. May our LORD open your Spiritual eyes to the truth that will be revealed to you. Blessings!

According to early History Abraham’s father, Terah, made, sold and worshipped idols, however Abram did not believe in idols.

GOD called Abraham to leave Haran and travel to a land GOD would show him and those who traveled with him. Abram responded to GOD’S call. GOD still calls pastors, teachers, missionaries, and ordinary people to place their faith in HIM.

Did Abram know GOD? No! He experienced the presence of GOD through life experiences. GOD revealed Himself to Abram by speaking to him directly and along life’s journey. Abram was not perfect and when he stepped out of line, GOD corrected him.

Let’s read Genesis 12:1-9:

Genesis 12:1 The Lord said to Abram:

Go from your land,
your relatives,
and your father’s house
to the land that I will show you.
I will make you into a great nation,
I will bless you,
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
I will curse anyone who treats you with contempt,
and all the peoples on earth
will be blessed[a] through you.[b]

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. He took his wife, Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated, and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, Abram passed through the land to the site of Shechem, at the oak of Moreh. (At that time the Canaanites were in the land.) The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring[c] I will give this land.” So, he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him. From there he moved on to the hill country east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. He built an altar to the Lord there, and he called on the name of the LordThen Abram journeyed by stages to the Negev.

Abram placed his trust in the one true GOD, I AM/YAWEH. Yet Abram came from the background of his earthly father who made, sold and worshipped idols. Abram trusted the one true GOD, WHO was revealing Himself to Abram.

It is Abram’s life journey of building trust and walking by faith with the One True Living GOD, WHO became the GOD of the Israelites.

Let’s read Genesis 15:1-7: (In a vision)

Genesis 15:1: After these events, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:

Do not be afraid, Abram.
I am your shield; your reward will be very great.

But Abram said, “Lord God, what can you give me, since I am childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” [a] Abram continued, “Look, you have given me no offspring, so a slave born in[b] my house will be my heir.”

Now the word of the Lord came to him: “This one will not be your heir; instead, one who comes from your own body[c] will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look at the sky and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” Then he said to him, “Your offspring will be that numerous.”

Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

We must trust and obey even when we cannot see GOD’S promises fulfilled as we journey with GOD through faith in JESUS.

He also said to him, “I am the Lord who brought you from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess.”

There are times when we have to reflect upon where we have been in our journey with GOD and JESUS, in order to keep on walking by faith.

We have an adversary, Satan and his minions and our part is to stay focused upon who we are through faith in JESUS, as revealed in 1 John 4:2-6: This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not confess Jesus[a] is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming; even now it is already in the world.

You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world. Therefore, what they say is from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Anyone who knows God listens to us; anyone who is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.

Why is this vital? Every day that passes, we are getting closer to the return of JESUS to rapture or remove those who have been born-again from earth. Now, is our opportunity to tell others the Good News of salvation through faith in JESUS.

Let’s read Genesis 17:1-11: (Name Change)

Genesis 17:1: When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty. Live[a] in my presence and be blameless. I will set up my covenant between me and you, and I will multiply you greatly.”

Then Abram fell facedown and God spoke with him: “As for me, here is my covenant with you: You will become the father of many nations. Your name will no longer be Abram;[b] your name will be Abraham,[c] for I will make you the father of many nations. I will make you extremely fruitful and will make nations and kings come from you. I will confirm my covenant that is between me and you and your future offspring throughout their generations. It is a permanent covenant to be your God and the God of your offspring after you. And to you and your future offspring[d] I will give the land where you are residing—all the land of Canaan—as a permanent possession, and I will be their God.”

God also said to Abraham, “As for you, you, and your offspring after you throughout their generations are to keep my covenant10 This is my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you, which you are to keep: Every one of your males must be circumcised11 You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskin to serve as a sign of the covenant between me and you.[e]

GOD made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants as step one in HIS redemptive plan. After the passion of JESUS, the law was fulfilled which made the way for GOD’S Grace to fall upon all who place their faith in JESUS. Since HIS passion has been established as the path to eternal life through the miracle of Spiritual birth into GOD’S eternal family, what does that mean? When a person accepts JESUS as his/her Savior the miracle of Spiritual birth takes place in the twinkling of the eye. That person is Spiritually born into GOD’S eternal Family never to be unborn and become one in JESUS.

We read in Galatians 3:28:
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The Sacrifice of Isaac – Genesis 22

Let’s consider the faith that Abraham had in GOD as written in Genesis 22:1: After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he answered.

“Take your son,” he said, “your only son Isaac, whom you love, go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.” (Know this, a burnt offering meant burning Isaac reducing him to a pile of ashes with the faith in GOD to restore or resurrect Isaac from those ashes to still be Isaac.)

So Abraham got up early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took with him two of his young men and his son Isaac. He split wood for a burnt offering and set out to go to the place God had told him about. On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I will go over there to worship; then we’ll come back to you.” Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and laid it on his son Isaac. In his hand he took the fire and the knife, and the two of them walked on together.

Then Isaac spoke to his father Abraham and said, “My father.”

And he replied, “Here I am, my son.”

Isaac said, “The fire and the wood are here, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

Abraham answered, “God himself will provide[a] the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Then the two of them walked on together.

When they arrived at the place that God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac[b] and placed him on the altar on top of the wood. 10 Then Abraham reached out and took the knife to slaughter his son.

11 But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!”

He replied, “Here I am.”

12 Then he said, “Do not lay a hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your only son from me.” 13 Abraham looked up and saw a ram[c] caught in the thicket by its horns. So, Abraham went and took the ram and offered it as a burnt offering in place of his son. 14 And Abraham named that place The Lord Will Provide,[d] so today it is said, “It will be provided[e] on the Lord’s mountain.”

15 Then the angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven 16 and said, “By myself I have sworn,” this is the Lord’s declaration: “Because you have done this thing and have not withheld your only son, 17 I will indeed bless you and make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your offspring will possess the city gates of their[f] enemies. 18 And all the nations of the earth will be blessed[g] by your offspring because you have obeyed my command.”

19 Abraham went back to his young men, and they got up and went together to Beer-Sheba. And Abraham settled in Beer-Sheba.

JESUS taught that those who have placed their faith in HIM need only to have the faith the size of a mustard seed to move mountains. Abraham placed his faith in GOD and so can you!

This is an interesting and excellent study which covers the in-depth purpose of Abraham and Isaac at Mt. Moriah

Genesis 22 – Abraham And Isaac At Mt. Moriah – Plain Truth

Genesis 22Abraham / By

The carnal heart must be subdued and transformed,

The Almost Sacrifice of Isaac

When Isaac was born Abraham was an old man of 100 years. We might call him ‘ancient of days’, who had a son who was born by the intervention of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 4) – whereas Ishmael was born according to the flesh.

Isaac was not Abraham’s ‘only son;’ the Hebrew word is better translated as ‘precious, unique, one of a kind son’. Hebrews 11:17 calls Isaac ‘the only begotten son.’  The Hebrew word for ‘only begotten’ means special or unique, it has nothing to do with begetting but rather it has to do with status.

Genesis 22:2, we read the words ‘whom thou lovest,’ again meaning: beloved, only begotten (special, unique) son.  These terms are not by accident, for God was going to use an experience which Abraham and Isaac were about to encounter to point to the Messiah and the cross. God told Abraham who was living in Beersheba, to go to the land of Moriah. It was about 45 miles from Beersheba to Moriah, and Abraham made it in three days. Why Moriah? In 1 Chronicles 21:18, 26, David was instructed to build an altar on the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite. Why is this significant? Because, in 2 Chronicles 3:1 we are told that this is the same place where Solomon’s temple was built…on Mt. Moriah.  What was offered in Solomon’s temple? Sacrifices of animals were offered, that means the very place that Abraham took Isaac was the place where the sacrificial system was established.  Genesis 22:2, makes is clear that the sacrifice (Isaac) which Abraham was going to offer was a sacrifice for sin (burnt offering). Cf. Lev. 1:3-4.

Genesis 22:4, tells us how long the ordeal lasted…three days, and on the third day Abraham saw the place afar off. In verse five, it states that the lads are a witness to this, who were standing afar off. Wow! When you read the account of the cross in Mark 15:40-41, there were also people “looking on afar off”.  Verse six describes that the wood was carried by Isaac. Abraham laid the wood on Isaac his son and had the instruments that would be used to slay his own son. This is a type of what happened to Jesus who also bore his wood (Matthew 27:32, John 19:16-17).
See blog titled, ‘Who Really Carried the Cross of Jesus? By: Ty Benbow. 07.30.3013. Answers in Genesis. Click on this link to access: https://theplainword.com/who-really-carried-the-cross-of-jesus/

Isaac inquires the whereabouts of the animal for the offering (v. 7), then in verse eight – Abraham gives a prophetic answer: God will provide a lamb (a substitute) for Himself. Abraham bound Isaac to the wood and laid him upon the altar (v. 9). Isaac did not resist but placed himself in his father’s hands and said, “your will be done.   Abraham raised his hand to slay his son as a sin offering (v. 10).

Think about this for a moment, Isaac is there stretched out on the wood, he bore the wood; and the one that was to slay him was his own father.  Therefore we can conclude that Isaac is a symbol (type) of Christ because he is the only begotten son (beloved son), who is going to be offered as a sin offering, he submissively places himself in the hands of his father, is willingness to die (in figure), and on the third day he resurrected from the dead (Hebrews 11:17-19).  At the same time, Isaac is also a symbol of us because he was not actually sacrificed, there was a substitute offered in the place of Isaac. In verses 11-12, Abraham is stopped because of his faithfulness and a ram was a substitutionary sacrifice in place of Isaac (v. 13).

Verse 14. Solomon’s temple was built in a direction from east to west (the west wall is supposedly there today); in the northeast of the temple was the sheep gate. This is where they kept the sheep for sacrifices. Geographically, this is the place where Abraham found this lamb and offered it on Mt. Moriah in Isaac’s stead. This is the place where Jesus was taken from the sheep gate to die for the sins of the world which was represented by the temple on Mt. Moriah. Did Abraham understand that this was more profound than just history? Yes, indeed. John 8:56, record a conversation Jesus is entertaining with a group of Jewish people and stated that Abraham understood. Galatians 3:8 also tells us Abraham understood because the gospel was preached to him. The Gentiles were justified by faith and God would establish His church – this was not a New Testament idea!

The fact is, the gospel was preached to Abraham and the idea that the gospel was going to go to the nations was already contained in the experience that God gave to Abraham. What is this story really pointing too? It is interesting that every time in the book of Genesis that either Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob erects an altar; immediately after they make the sacrifice – God makes promises. Whenever they do not raise up an altar, there is always a Messianic prophecy connected with the promises. Let’s look at four promises that God made to Abraham here in this story:

1.    Abraham and his descendants would have dominion over their enemies (Genesis 22:17).  This is what Adam lost and what was going to be restored to the ‘seed’.  Adam lost dominion over the enemy in the Garden when he yielded to his voice.  At that moment, Adam also lost dominion over the earth as God’s steward.  So, the promised land (not the little strip of land known as Israel) was understood by Abraham that it was only a down payment…just a little sample of what God was really promising.  How can we know this?  Romans 4:13 says that Abraham would be heir of the world AND in Hebrews 11 we find that Abraham and all the other bible hero’s up to Abraham did not consider Canaan their homeland.  They looked for a city who’s builder and maker was God and it says when they left their country they were searching for a heavenly homeland.  Abraham was not looking for Jerusalem to fill God’s promise.  God told Abraham he would have dominion over all his enemies including the devil and inherit all of the earth,

2.    Promised Abraham that through his ‘seed’ the blessing would come to counteract the curse,

3.    Abraham will have a group of people (spiritual Israel) that are innumerable like the stars of heaven,

4.    Abraham is not the key figure; he is mentioned as bringing these things through Jesus who is the key figure.  You see, the devil defeated Abraham in that Abraham was deceitful regarding Sarah, he was a bigamist, etc.  BUT Abraham is the instrument that God uses to bring the ‘seed’ into the world to recover and restore that which was lost…JESUS.

Parallels:

Matthew 1:18,  Jesus was born according to the act of the Holy Spirit, a child of the Holy Spirit, conceived by the Holy Spirit.

Mark 1:11, When Jesus was baptized the words were heard from heaven that said: “You are My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”  This was said again on the mount of transfiguration.

John 3:16 Reference to Jesus as the ‘begotten son’.  As well with Isaac.  He is not the only son that the Father has (for we are sons and daughters), but Jesus is the unique Son, the special Son, the Son of the promise, the Son through whom all the promises given to Abraham will be fulfilled.

The sacrifice of Christ was offered as a burnt offering which had a sweet-smelling savor to God (Eph. 5:2).

Matthew 12:40, tells us how long the ordeal of Christ and his Father lasted…three days and three nights.

God the Father was burdened with the idea of offering up his Son, just as in the Old Testament story of Isaac.

Jesus submissively place himself in the hands of his Father.  In the Garden of Gethsemene, Jesus said, ‘My Father if this cup can pass from Me let it be so, never the less not my will be done but yours’.  Three times Jesus said this.

John 19:17, states that Jesus bore his wooden cross and was nailed to the wood by his own consent.  Who was executing the sentence upon Christ?  Isaiah 53:4, makes clear that God, his own Father, raised his hand against him (Jesus).  The hand of the Father was not stayed in the case of Jesus as it was with Isaac.  Why did Jesus do this?  For our transgressions, our iniquities, and He did this for our peace and our healing…Jesus is the great substitute (Isa. 53:5).  He was the one offered in our place, so we do not have to suffer the death sentence (second death).

In 2 Corinthians 5:21 Paul says, “For He (God the Father) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (emphasis added).

By the way, did you know that when Jesus suffered on the cross that there were witnesses that watched from afar off?  See: Mark 15:40

What day of the week did Jesus resurrect?  The first day of the week.  What day was the reference of His suffering?  The third day.  Did Abraham receive Isaac back resurrected in figure on the third day?  Yes, see Hebrews 11.  In 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Paul says that Jesus rose (resurrected) on the third day.  This was foreshadowed in the story of Isaac, but also in the story of Jonah when on the third day the fish spewed Jonah out.  Jonah lived in spite of being in that tomb for three days so to speak.  Romans 8:32 tells us the Father spared not his Son…we can’t image what it was like for the Father to raise his hand against his own Son. Paul wrote that God did not spare His own Son but delivered Him up for us.   At the very center of the story of Abraham and Isaac is Jesus Christ.

Four promises to Abraham:

Through Abraham and his seed dominion would be restored.

Through Abraham and his seed, the Earth would be recovered.

Through Abraham and his seed, a blessing would come upon the human race to counteract the curse.

Through Abraham and his seed would come a multiplicity of seed which no one can number would come as a result of Abraham and his seed.

Were those promises made to the Jewish nation or were they made for the human race through Jesus?  Actually, the promises are centered in Christ.  The Church has missed the point when they focus on literal Israel.  The fact is that Jesus is the one who fulfilled these promises with the whole human race – not just one people.  Prophecy is not centered in Israel it is centered in Jesus.  Notice in Galatians 3:16 the promises are made to Abraham and his seed.  Who is that seed?  That seed is Jesus Christ.  This is the reason why Paul said in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that the promises of God are in Jesus.

These four promises made to Abraham will be fulfilled through Jesus. Luke 1:71-73, Daniel 7:26-27, tells us that Abraham was promised that he would inherit the world which would ONLY be fulfilled through Jesus.  The meek shall inherit the earth because of Jesus.  By the way, who removed the curse?  Galatians 3:13-14 says, we have been saved from the curse of the law by Jesus.  The blessing of Abraham comes to all those who believe.  It is removed by accepting Jesus.  Revelation 7:9 states, there will be a great multitude that cannot be numbered, they have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb.  These promises are only fulfilled in Jesus Christ and given to those who believe in Jesus Christ…not a nation.  Galatians 3:29 makes are crystal clear, if you are Christ’s then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.  IT CANNOT BE ANY MORE CLEAR THAN THIS.

What happened in 1948, the proclamation of the establishment of the state of Israel, has no prophetic significance because scripture says that ‘all promises are in Jesus’.  Galatians 4:4-7, says to inherit the promises we must become sons and daughters of God.  How do we do this? All those who have been baptized in Christ have put on Christ (Gal. 3:26-27).  We are sons and daughters of God through Jesus Christ.  We become brothers and sisters of Jesus, therefore we become sons and daughters of God…therefore we inherit all the promises of God.

Immediately after Jacob saw that ladder between heaven and earth you find God giving the promises.  What God was teaching was that the promises were going to come through the Messiah, through the sacrifice, through Him who was truly Jacob’s ladder, so Jesus was truly represented by Isaac. This is the end of this writing ----

Back to my writing:

GOD spoke directly to Abram through visions, and the way HE spoke to the prophets. Has GOD spoken to you? If so, how did you know it? It is awesome, distinctive, and knowing in a still small voice as HE did with Elijah. In general, HE speaks in ways the person will listen to HIM, which are numerous.

GOD’S redemptive plan came through the passion of JESUS. GOD still reveals Himself to all people today. This study is the foundation for a person’s faith through the passion of JESUS through faith in JESUS. Faith in JESUS is the only way any person can be Spiritually Born into GOD’S eternal family. FATHER, here I am as I am, please redeem me from my sins by the shed blood of Jesus, my faith in JESUS and the miracle of being “born Spiritually into YOUR eternal Family and Kingdom.

Once we become GOD’S Son or Daughter through the miracle of Spiritual Birth, we are still building our relationship with GOD through faith in JESUS. It is an awesome and eternally rewarding journey of learning, building trust and taking steps of faith, which continues to build our faith.

AMEN WITH BLESSINGS AND HAPPY JOURNEY!!!
