A GODLY Life Points Others to JESUS.
CHRIST in you, the hope of Glory.
GOD sent JESUS from Heaven to this earth to live a 100%
human life. JESUS willingly came to earth and was tempted in all ways as humans
are tempted. Yet, JESUS did not sin, therefore JESUS became the only acceptable
sacrifice to GOD to atone for sin by the shedding of HIS sinless blood.
If JESUS had simply died and remained in the tomb that
would have been what all humans do but ----
NO!!! JESUS gave up HIS physical life by placing HIS Spirit
into the hands of HIS FATHER, GOD, as we read in Luke 23:46: And
Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I
entrust my spirit.” Saying this, he breathed his last.
GOD raised JESUS from the physically dead to eternal life
on the third day. EASTER!!! JESUS had to trust GOD to restore HIS life, and HIS
FATHER GOD did just that. JESUS is the first fruit from physical death to
eternal life. As JESUS trusted GOD with HIS eternal life, so, do all who place
their faith in JESUS!!!
Folks, this is the Good News of accepting JESUS as our
Savior and being “Born-again” Spiritually, by the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit, “The Divine Sperm” unites with the human
spirit “the egg” and the miracle of Spiritual Birth takes place quicker than
the twinkle of the eye.
1 John 3:9 (Amplified)
No one born (begotten) of God [deliberately, knowingly,
and habitually] practices sin, for God’s nature abides in him [His principle of
life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within
him]; and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God.
JESUS was and is the first fruit to experience eternal
life after having human life upon earth. JESUS is the example for all who place
their faith and trust in JESUS for forgiveness of their sins and to inherit
eternal life through the miracle of Spiritual Birth or being “Born-again” in
their human spirit.
Our earth suit (human body) will die, and it will be buried
and decay. Those who are “Born-again” Spiritually will never experience the
death of their human body but upon death all, who have been “born-again”
Spiritually, will exit his/her physical body and be welcomed into Heaven by
JESUS.
Now, that is Good News!!! Not only is Heaven the
Spirit-born persons’ eternal home but the Holy Spirit is their teacher, leader,
guide, comforter, light in the darkness and so much more!!!
I accepted JESUS as my Savior when I was about 9 years
old. Baptized in second year of College. In my early walk with JESUS as an
adult, I had fellow brothers in CHRIST to journey with me. We were learning and
growing Spiritually together. I was active in the CBMC (Christian Businessmen’s
Committee).
CBMC has a study course entitled, “Operation Timothy” which
is designed to help new Christians build upon their newfound faith in JESUS. We
met with a fellow Christian(s) and studied GOD’S Word and prayed together. The
concept is “each one teaches one.”
The idea for Operation Timothy came from the relationship
that the Apostle Paul had with young Timothy. How would you like to have The
Apostle Paul as your mentor?
We know that Timothy’s mother and grandmother had already
been teaching Timothy about GOD and about his relationship with GOD.
The Apostle Paul presented JESUS to young Timothy.
What do we know about Timothy?
Timothy was the recipient of the two New Testament
letters bearing his name from The Apostle Paul. Timothy was
the son of a Greek father and a Jewish mother and grandmother.
His Jewish mother and grandmother were Timothy’s
teachers about GOD. The Apostle Paul built upon the foundation that Timothy’s
mother and grandmother had taught him.
Let’s read 1 Timothy:
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus
by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope:
2 To
Timothy, my true son in the faith.
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the[a] Father
and Christ Jesus our Lord.
False Doctrine and Misuse of the Law
3 As I
urged you when I went to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus so that you may
instruct certain people not to teach false doctrine 4 or
to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies. These promote empty
speculations rather than God’s plan, which operates by faith. 5 Now
the goal of our instruction is love that comes from a pure heart, a
good conscience, and a sincere faith. 6 Some have
departed from these and turned aside to fruitless discussion. 7 They
want to be teachers of the law, although they don’t understand what they are
saying or what they are insisting on. 8 But we know that
the law is good, provided one uses it legitimately. 9 We
know that the law is not meant for a righteous person, but for the lawless and
rebellious, for the ungodly and sinful, for the unholy and irreverent, for
those who kill their fathers and mothers, for murderers, 10 for
the sexually immoral and males who have sex with males, for slave
traders, liars, perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound
teaching 11 that conforms to the gospel concerning
the glory of the blessed God, which was entrusted to me.
The law is like guideposts or a fence which
is designed to reveal to all where and how they miss GOD’S mark along life’s
journey. Missing the mark is sin and reveals how much that person needs a
Savior from the penalty of sin, which is eternal death.
Paul’s Testimony
12 I
give thanks to Christ Jesus our Lord who has strengthened me, because he
considered me faithful, appointing me to the ministry— 13 even
though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant
man. But I received mercy because I acted out of ignorance in
unbelief, 14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed, along
with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 This
saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came
into the world to save sinners”—and I am the worst of them. 16 But
I received mercy for this reason, so that in me, the worst of them, Christ
Jesus might demonstrate his extraordinary patience as an example to those
who would believe in him for eternal life. 17 Now to the
King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only[b] God, be
honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Engage in Battle – As Spirit-born believers,
we have an enemy, Satan.
18 Timothy,
my son, I am giving you this instruction in keeping with the
prophecies previously made about you, so that by recalling them you may
fight the good fight, 19 having faith and a good
conscience, which some have rejected and have shipwrecked the
faith. 20 Among them are Hymenaeus and
Alexander, whom I have delivered to Satan, so that they may be taught
not to blaspheme.
The Apostle wrote a second letter to Timothy:
Greetings
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus
by God’s will, for the sake of the promise of life in Christ Jesus:
2 To
Timothy, my dearly loved son.
Grace, mercy, and peace from God the
Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
Thanksgiving
3 I
thank God, whom I serve with a clear conscience as my ancestors did, when
I constantly remember you in my prayers night and day. 4 Remembering
your tears, I long to see you so that I may be filled with joy. 5 I
recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in
your mother Eunice and now, I am convinced, is in you also.
6 Therefore,
I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on
of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of
fear, but one of power,[a] love, and
sound judgment.
Not Ashamed of the Gospel
8 So
don’t be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, or of me his
prisoner. Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the
power of God. 9 He has saved us and called us with a
holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own
purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time
began. [Ephesians 1 sheds more light on “before time began”. Addendum] 10 This
has now been made evident through the appearing of our Savior Christ
Jesus, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality
to light through the gospel. 11 For this gospel I was
appointed a herald, apostle, and teacher,[b] 12 and
that is why I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know
whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been
entrusted to me[c] until
that day.
Be Loyal to the Faith
13 Hold
on to the pattern of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in
the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 14 Guard the
good deposit through the Holy Spirit who lives in us. 15 You
know that all those in the province of Asia have deserted
me, including Phineus and Hermogenes. 16 May the Lord
grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often
refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains. 17 On
the contrary, when he was in Rome, he diligently searched for me and found
me. 18 May the Lord grant that he obtain mercy from
him on that day. You know very well how much he ministered at Ephesus.
Paul referred to Timothy as "my true son in the
faith."
Paul says Timothy had a “genuine faith,” the same as that which lived in his
mother and grandmother. Eunice and Lois prepared Timothy’s heart to accept
Christ by teaching Timothy the Old Testament Scriptures and preparing him “from
infancy” to recognize the Messiah when He appeared. When Paul came preaching
Christ and Eunice, Lois and Tmothy accepted his teaching and committed their
lives to JESUS. We, too, must prepare our children to be ready when Christ knocks
upon their hearts’ door to let HIM into their lives and be “Born-again.”
5 I
recall your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois and in
your mother Eunice and now, I am convinced, is in you also.
6 Therefore,
I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on
of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of
fear, but one of power,[a] love, and
sound judgment.
Not Ashamed of the Gospel
8 So
don’t be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, or of me his
prisoner. Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the
power of God. 9 He has saved us and called us
with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according
to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before
time began.[Ephesians 1 sheds more light on this statement “before time began”.] 10 This
has now been made evident through the appearing of our Savior Christ
Jesus, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality
to light through the gospel. 11 For this gospel I
was appointed a herald, apostle, and teacher,[b] 12 and
that is why I suffer these things.
14 Guard
the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he gave him
instructions and advice on to lead the church. He also exhorted Timothy not to
let others look down upon him due to his youth, but to set an example for other
believers "in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.”
Paul told Timothy to be devoted to reading Scripture,
exhorting, and teaching, and to not neglect the gift that he had been given.
Paul also counseled Timothy to keep a close watch on himself.
Keeping a close watch on ourselves as we walk with JESUS
and growing in our faith is vital. I know, because I thought I
could walk through Hell itself and come out the other end without the smell of
smoke. I was so wrong, but our LORD rescued me, but it took time. It took a
GODLY wife who stood by me.
So, never, ever get too big for your britches,
walk humbly with the LORD knowing that Satan seeks to devour you.
The instructions of Paul to Timothy are just as relevant to
believers today as “Born-again” believers walk with their LORD and Savior JESUS.
We, too, are called to "pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love,
endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the
eternal life to which we were called when we accepted JESUS as our LORD and Savior.
Keep this in mind, once a person accepts JESUS as his/her
Savior, that he/she becomes the enemy of Satan. Those “Born-again” must keep in
mind that “greater is HE (JESUS) WHO is in him/her is greater than Satan who is
in the world.
When Satan attacks, quote scripture and that reassures
your faith in JESUS.
In Paul’s second letter to Timothy, Paul warned Timothy about the false
teachers that he would encounter and told him to continue to keep his
focus on the things he knew were true.
This is so vital as we approach the latter days in today’s
world, which we are in and as JESUS told all believers in Matthew 24:24 Christian
Standard Bible
24 For
false messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and
wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
Folks this is why, we must study and know the truth in
GODS Word because days are coming when Satan will attempt to deceive even the
elect. This is not to frighten but to warn and to encourage you to know the
truth in GOD’S Word.
Timothy’s mother and grandmother invested GOD’S Word in
Timothy and that is important and vital for those of us who know the truth to
entrust in our children and grandchildren what GOD and JESUS have entrusted to
us.
It is also vital that as we invest the Good News of
salvation through faith in JESUS in our children, grands, and great grands that
we keep a close eye upon ourselves.
Satan is out to deceive even the elect. Open your
Spiritual eyes and see what is taking place in our world today. Deception is
rampant. Blessings!!!
Addendum – Ephesians 1:1-23:
Greeting
1 Paul, an apostle
of Christ Jesus by God’s will:
To the faithful saints in Christ Jesus[a] at
Ephesus.[b]
2 Grace
to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
God’s Rich Blessings
3 Blessed
is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavens in Christ. 4 For
he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and
blameless in love before him.[c] 5 He
predestined us to be adopted as sons through Jesus Christ for himself,
according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the
praise of his glorious grace that he lavished on us in the Beloved One.
This is amazing to me. GOD chose us in him,
before the foundation of the world. The question is, “Do we choose HIM through
faith in JESUS?
7 In
him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our
trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 that
he richly poured out on us with all wisdom and understanding.[d] 9 He
made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure
that he purposed in Christ 10 as a plan for the
right time[e]—to
bring everything together in Christ, both things in heaven and things on
earth in him.
11 In
him we have also received an inheritance,[f] because
we were predestined according to the plan of the one who works out
everything in agreement with the purpose of his will, 12 so
that we who had already put our hope in Christ might bring praise to his
glory.
13 In
him you also were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit when you heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed. 14 The
Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption
of the possession, to the praise of his glory.
Prayer for Spiritual Insight
15 This
is why, since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all
the saints, 16 I never stop giving thanks for you
as I remember you in my prayers. 17 I pray that the
God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father,[g] would
give you the Spirit[h] of
wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him. 18 I
pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know what
is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious
inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the
immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to
the mighty working of his strength.
God’s Power in Christ
20 He
exercised this power in Christ by raising him from the dead and seating him at
his right hand in the heavens— 21 far above
every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given,[i] not
only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he
subjected everything under his feet[j] and
appointed him[k] as
head over everything for the church, 23 which
is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in
every way.
Choose JESUS by asking JESUS to forgive you for all your
sins and ask JESUS to come into your life and redeem you from Hell by HIS shed
blood.
We read in Revelation 3:20:
See! I stand at the door and
knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will
come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
JESUS knocks on your heart’s door but you control whether
or not you will unlock the door to your heart and let HIM to come into your
heart.
Folks, salvation is not complicated. Your part is to unlock
the door of your heart and invite HIM to come in. Ask JESUS to help you clean
your house.
The Navigators publishes a booklet entitled, “My Heart
CHRIST’S Home” that has been very meaning to me over the years.
JESUS knocks on your heart’s door and you invite HIM to
come into your space. You have cleaned up your home anticipating HIS visit. You
give JESUS a tour. All is very neat and tidy, but HE came across a small room
that is locked, and a foul odor is coming from that room. JESUS wants to take a
look inside that locked room. You reluctantly give JESUS the key to that room.
HE opens the door and “PU” it stinks. JESUS is the only ONE WHO can clean it
because it contains your hidden things that you do not want to give up. Only
JESUS can clean that room out and restore it to its sweet-smelling fragrance.
All Christians are a “work in progress,” especially me.
Keep in mind, Greater is WHO (JESUS) is in you is greater
than he (Satan) who is in the world. Amen. Blessings!!!
